Fables of the Flying City is written by Jared Axelrod, with illustrations by Steve Walker and Natalie Kelly.
In addition to writing the adventures of Ashe and the other denizens of the flying city of Amperstam, Jared Axelrod is the writer of the webcomic “All Write!” for the website I Should Be Writing. His written work has been published in the anthologies Podthology: The Pod Complex, as well as The Sovereign Era: Year One, Salt and End Of Time, as well as Neometropolis and Escape Pod magazines. He was a founding writer for 365 Tomorrows. His illustration work can be seen on the cover of the novel Brave Men Run, and accompanying the original audio version of the novels Playing For Keeps and Cybrosis. He currently resides in Philadelphia with his immensely talented wife.
He is not domestic, he is a luxury. And in that sense, necessary.
Steve Walker is a comic artist, illustrator, teacher, and founding member of Dr. Sketchy’s Anti Art School. He is the Co-Creator along with Jared Axelrod of Ashe and her adventures in Amperstam, soon to be seen in the graphic novel The Battle of Blood and Ink from Tor Books.
He can most often be found designing flying cities and DaVinci inspired airships for Ashe to play in and drawing Revolutionary War era electric super heroes for The Sons of Liberty for Random House Books.
He lives in Philadelphia with his Mad Scientist fiance Holly.
Natalie Kelly has been interested in art and all forms of storytelling as long as she can remember. She currently resides in the Florida panhandle with her cats and ferret, and occasionally her husband as well.
Ashe joined the Aerial Guard as alternative to starving on the city streets. Harder than she looks, Ashe is the girl without a history, who’s got nothing but the future ahead of her. But is she strong enough to handle all the future will have her bear?
Tolban Rinks is the classic success story, the copterbird turned first-class aviator. But he’s got his own reasons for joining the Aerial Guard, not the least of which seems to be something mysterious about his home. Why does he always change the subject when people ask about his family?
Amphadora Mari–who does not go by Amphadora, thank you very much–left the life of the circus to run away and join the military. Nobody flies like Mari does, as her piloting skills are matched only by the size of her heart. But is that heart to big for a solider to lift?
Captain Kaga Sarawasu has seen many a young pilot or observer crash and burn before they even get off the runway. He’ll be damned if someone up prepared goes into the air, even if they are as cocky as Ashe…
